Before the ‘I Do’s’

Book in for your engagement session!

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to book in for your engagement session!  Dates can fill up weeks to months in advance so please do not hesitate to reserve your date.  I book my engagement sessions Monday through Friday for both sunrise and sunset start times at one location in Lumsden. Sessions outside of the immediate Lumsden area may be subject to a travel fee. These sessions typically run 30-60 minutes in length, but the exact time may vary a bit depending on the location we’re shooting in. Please note that these sessions are intended to take place at one location with one outfit due to the length of the sessions.

 General information about your engagement session:

LATE POLICY : Please note that clients arriving to their session ten minutes or more past our agreed upon start time will kindly be asked to reschedule their session for the next available session date. Light plays a large role in my photography and the images we’ll be capturing together, as such, sessions are time-sensitive. Please note that a re-booking fee may be required if sessions need to be rescheduled due to tardiness.

Turnaround time for editing of your engagement session is approximately four weeks.  I will email you as soon as editing is completed with the link to an online gallery where you’ll be able to download your images from.

Please note that these engagement sessions are intended for the couple only and may not be transferred to use as a different type of portrait session or toward alternate services or goods.

Images given to clients are not, under any circumstances, to be used for personal profit or promotion or to be used in business or personal portfolios, contests etc. unless specific permission is given to said client.  You are more than welcome to share your images on social media sites, but a credit to Ali Lauren Creative Services must accompany the images.  Images may not be cropped, edited, or altered in any way.  By booking in with Ali Lauren, you are agreeing to these terms.

If the weather doesn’t look like it is going to cooperate (and, being in Saskatchewan, this is often a reality) I just ask for 24 hours notice to reschedule your shoot for another day.

What to Wear?

Wear clothes you feel great in!  If you feel good, it will photograph as such.

Solid colors tend to photograph better than high-contrast prints.  Please try to avoid bold logos.

Your outfits should coordinate/complement each other, but don’t feel the need to get too matchy matchy.  Outfits in the same tones (either warm or cool) photograph beautifully.  If you plan on wearing the same color, try doing so by choosing pieces in varying hues or shades.  Google and Pinterest have a wealth of ideas if you need some inspiration!  I’ve created a couples session clothing inspiration board here: http://www.pinterest.com/alilauren11/what-to-wear-engagementcouples/

Ultimately, this shoot is about you and it’s these little details that make the photos uniquely yours.  **Please note, if you have a certain look in mind, we can find a location to coordinate your style/outfit choice as well so please do not hesitate to ask me about this.

I’m all about the details, so please be aware that your hands might be featured in a photograph, or two!

Location

If you have a specific ‘look’ in mind for your session, please let me know! I have plenty of location suggestions I can offer as recommendations that will photograph beautifully but if you have something in particular in mind, let me know and we can plan around your vision.

Most Important!

Have fun and interact with each other!  It’s my job to capture you as a couple, so show me your personalities.  This shoot is all about you, so show me who you are.

Couples : Flirt, laugh, smile, cuddle, play, hug, kiss, love!  You’re in love and I want to capture it!

I always give guidance for poses, body placement, etc. but from there, I encourage interaction between you and your partner.  It is my job to find the light and pose you, all I need you to do is have fun and enjoy yourselves.

Planning and Timelines

Are you planning the timelines for your big day but unsure of how long certain aspects of the day take to photograph?  Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance if you are looking for guidance with this stage of planning! Approximately 2-4 weeks before your wedding day we’ll sit down together virtually over coffee (or tea if that’s more your thing!) to confirm all of your timeline details and chat in more depth about the photography specifics of your special day.

Events throughout the day can vary in the amount of time they typically take to photograph.  You can find examples of approximately how long some of the main portions of your day take to photograph below.  Please keep in mind, these timelines are approximates only and each timeline is just as unique as your special day.

‘Getting Ready’ Details (with one side of the wedding party) – 45-60 minutes

Family photos – 20-30 minutes

Wedding Party ‘Formals’ – 30-45 minutes

Couple’s ‘Formals’ – 60-90 minutes (can be spread out throughout the day in smaller increments as well!)

Also, please take the light into consideration as you’re planning your photography timelines and schedule. If you love those warm images filled with sun flare, please consider leaving some time for photography throughout the ‘golden hour’ (the hour before sunset) on your wedding day. If you have any questions about light and how it will impact your images please do not hesitate to ask me! I love light and talking about it makes me happy 🙂

Payment

To book in and hold a wedding day a signed contract and a $500 retainer fee is required. Six months before the contracted wedding day, a second $500 payment is due. Both the retainer and deposit are subtracted from your final invoice. Final payment for all wedding contracts is due no later than one week before then wedding day. Clients are more than welcome to take care of their invoice early or set up a payment plan leading up to the wedding day. Please just touch base to sort out these details. Cash, cheque, and e-transfer is accepted for payments.

Relax and have fun!  Soak up every moment and let me take care of the details.  I’ll capture every moment as your day unfolds and focus on all of the important elements.

After the Celebration  

Follow along on social media for preview images from your special day! You can find me on Instagram under @AliLauren and on Facebook under Ali Lauren Creative Services. Previews from recent shoots and weddings are most often shared in my stories.

Please keep in mind that turnaround time for editing of all wedding packages is approximately 6-8 weeks for editing.  I’ll keep you posted along the way and be sure to let you know as soon as your editing is complete and can expect your package in the mail.  All prints and albums can be ordered once editing is complete.  You will be able to find a full printing price list as well as some information about printing outlined on your wedding flash drive and inside this welcome package.

Please feel free to share your images online and with friends and family!  When sharing your images on social media sites please credit Ali Lauren Creative Services and please refrain from cropping, editing, or altering your images.

Please note that I store a copy of your delivered images (both from engagement sessions as well as weddings) for up to six months. I can not guarantee their storage past six months so please ensure you have a copy of your images saved on a second flash drive or external hard drive in a separate location from the delivered flash drive in addition to copy saved in an online cloud storage to ensure their safety.
